Influenza is a viral infection that is prevalent seasonally and has an annual occurrence. Caused by the highly contagious respiratory virus, the disease can range from mild flu to severe complications that may require hospitalization, depending on a person’s age and overall health status. Underlying conditions, being the age of 65 and over, weak or compromised immune system are all high risk factors for influenza infection. 

Influenza vaccination helps to prevent the serious complications that may result from infection, by helping to produce antibodies against the virus. The vaccination is recommended for all children over the age of 2 and adults, till the age of 65. It's strongly advised to take the vaccination dose every year.
