Amlodipine + Telmisartan

Uses of Amlodipine + Telmisartan

The combination of Amlodipine and Telmisartan belongs to the class of antihypertensive medications and is indicated for the treatment of hypertension.

How Amlodipine + Telmisartan Works

Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral vascular resistance. Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, resulting in further vasodilation and lowered blood pressure. The combination of Amlodipine and Telmisartan provides a synergistic antihypertensive effect by targeting different pathways in blood pressure regulation.
