Aspirin + Clopidogrel

Uses of Aspirin + Clopidogrel

Aspirin and clopidogrel, when used in combination, belong to the class of antiplatelet agents and are indicated for the prevention of thrombotic events in patients at risk for cardiovascular disease.

How Aspirin + Clopidogrel Works

Aspirin and clopidogrel, both antiplatelet agents, act through different mechanisms to inhibit blood clot formation. Aspirin inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase, reducing the production of thromboxane A2 and thus preventing platelet aggregation. Clopidogrel, on the other hand, blocks the P2Y12 adenosine diphosphate (ADP) receptor on platelets, further inhibiting their activation and aggregation. Together, these drugs provide a dual antiplatelet effect, reducing the risk of thrombotic events.
