Inhaled Budesonide is commonly used to treat Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis by orally, asthma, nasal polyp and allergic rhinitis through the inhaler
How Budesonide (Inhaled) Works
Budesonide is a corticosteroid. It works by impeding or controlling inflammation through regulation of the rate of protein synthesis and prohibition of the migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and fibroblasts. It also reduces capillary permeability and stabilizes lysozyme.
Side Effects of Budesonide (Inhaled)
Mild sore throat, Coughing, Hoarse voice, Oral Thrush (Fungal Infection in the mouth),

Kidney Use With Care
Budesonide (Inhaled) should be used with caution in patients with renal impairment, dose adjustment must be exercised.
Alcohol Not Advisable
Budesonide (Inhaled) is is not advise to be used with Alcohol as it may cause dizziness.
Pregnancy Not Safe
Animal studies have shown that Budesonide (Inhaled) is harmful at high exposures. However, there is no data on the usage of Budesonide (Inhaled) in pregnancy and its adverse effects or risks to the fetus. It should only be used if the benefits outweigh the risk.
Driving Generally Safe
Budesonide (Inhaled) usually does not affect the ability to drive.
Liver Limited Data
It should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Higher exposure of cortocosteriod side effect with reduced liver function.
Lactation Limited Data
Although Budesonide (Inhaled) is excreted in breast milk, however, at therapeutic doses of Budesonide (Inhaled) has no effects on the suckling child are anticipated. Budesonide (Inhaled) can be used during breast feeding.
