How Cefalexin Works

Cefalexin is an antibiotic. It works by binding and inhibiting the bacterial peptidoglycan synthesis and stops the formation of bacterial cell wall, leading to cell death.

Side Effects of Cefalexin

Abdominal discomfort, agranulocytosis, allergic reactions, anaphylaxis, aplastic anaemia, confusion, Diarrhea, dizziness, hallucinations, headache, leucopenia, nausea, nervousness, pruritus, rashes, vomiting

Kidney Use With Care

Cefalexin should be used with caution in patients with kidney impairment. Dose adjustment of Cefalexin is needed. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Alcohol Safe

It is safe to consume alcohol with Cefalexin. Consuming Cefalexin with alcohol will not interfere with the way the medication works.

Pregnancy Maybe Safe

Use of Cefalexin is acceptable during pregnancy. Animal reproduction studies do not demonstrate adverse effects on the fetus, and there is not adequate studies in pregnant women. This medication should only be used when there is a clear indication of infection. Please consult your doctor before use.

Driving Generally Safe

Cefalexin usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Liver Safe If Prescribed

Cefalexin should be used with caution in patients with liver disorder. Dose adjustment may be needed. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Lactation Safe If Prescribed

Cefalexin is likely to be safe during lactation although it is excreted in breast milk in low concentrations. However, caution shoube be exercised. Please consult your doctor before using it.
