Uses of Cloxacillin

Cloxacillin is commonly used in the treatment of Pneumonia, staphylococcal infections resistant to benzylpenicillin, skin and soft tissue infection, bone and joint infections.

How Cloxacillin Works

Cloxacillin is an anti-infective agent. It inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell wall by binding to bacterial binding protein.

Side Effects of Cloxacillin

Hypotension, Confusion, Fever, Lethargy, Seizure, Pruritus, Rash, Urticaria, Abdominal pain, Diarrhea

Warnings

Kidney Use With Care

Cloxacillin should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Cloxacillin may be needed.

Alcohol Safe

It is safe to consume alcohol with Cloxacillin as there is no known drug interactions.

Pregnancy Limited Data

Cloxacillin may be unsafe to use during pregnancy as it is found to cross the placenta and distribute into fetal tissue. Please consult with doctor.

Driving Not advisable

Cloxacillin may cause side effects such as hypotension and confusion which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive.

Liver Limited Data

Dose adjustment of Cloxacillin is not needed in patients with liver impairment.

Lactation Limited Data

Cloxacillin is excreted in human breast milk. Therefore, it should be used with caution during lactation.
