Uses of Dibucaine
Dibucaine is commonly used to treat haemorrhoids, minor cuts or burns, insect bites or stings, sunburn, or other skin irritations.
How Dibucaine Works
Dibucaine is a topical anaesthesia which decreases permeability of the nerve cell to sodium ions, thus preventing or diminishing nerve impulse conduction when administered locally.
Side Effects of Dibucaine
Restlessness, Excitement, Nervousness, Paraesthesias, Dizziness, Tinnitus, Blurred vision, Nausea and/or vomiting, Muscle twitching, Tremors, Convulsions, Hypotension, Bradycardia, Arrhythmias, Cardiac arrest.
Warnings
Kidney Limited Data
There's no data on use of Dibucaine in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor before using it.
Alcohol Safe
There may be drug interactions when consumed with alcohol. Please discuss with your doctor about using Dibucaine with alcohol.
Pregnancy Not Safe
Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are inadequate human data. However, its benefits may outweigh risks for usage in pregnant women. Please discuss with your doctor before using it.
Driving Generally Safe
Dibucaine has minimal to negligible effect on your ability to concentrate and drive. You are allowed to drive unless you feel unwell.
Liver Limited Data
There's no data on use of Dibucaine in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor before using it.
Lactation Limited Data
Dibucaine excretion into breast milk and its effect on feeding baby is still unknown. Please discuss with your doctor before using it.
