Uses of Dutasteride + Tamsulosin

This combination medication is indicated for the treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate gland to improve symptoms and reduce the risk of acute urinary retention and the need for surgical intervention.

How Dutasteride + Tamsulosin Works

Dutasteride inhibits the enzyme 5α-reductase, which converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), thereby reducing prostate size. Tamsulosin is an α1-adrenergic receptor antagonist that relaxes smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck, improving urinary flow and relieving symptoms of BPH.
