Hydrochlorothiazide + Losartan

Uses of Hydrochlorothiazide + Losartan

Used for the treatment of hypertension and to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy.

How Hydrochlorothiazide + Losartan Works

Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that reduces the reabsorption of electrolytes, especially sodium and chloride, in the renal tubules, leading to increased excretion of water and electrolytes. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, thereby lowering blood pressure.

Side Effects of Hydrochlorothiazide + Losartan

Common side effects may include dizziness, hypotension, hyperkalemia, and fatigue. Less common but severe side effects can include renal failure, hepatic failure, and angioedema. It's important to seek medical attention if experiencing severe side effects.
