Uses of Mequitazine

Mequitazine is commonly used to treat Allergic Conditions.

How Mequitazine Works

Mequitazine is an antihistamine which competitively inhibits the H1-receptor sites on cells of the gastrointestinal tract, blood vessels and respiratory tract. It also has antimuscarinic and mild sedative properties

Drowsiness, Dizziness, Incoordination, Headache, Psychomotor impairment

Warnings

Kidney Use With Care

Mequitazine should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Mequitazine may be needed. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Mequitazine as it can potentiate the side effects of CNS depressant of alcohol.

Pregnancy Limited Data

There's insufficient data on the safety of using Mequitazine during pregnancy. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Dose adjustment may be needed. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Driving Not advisable

Mequitazine may cause side effects of slight drowsiness, dizziness, headaches and incoordination all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Liver Limited Data

Mequitazine should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Mequitazine may be needed. Please consult your doctor before using it. Use of Mequitazine is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

Lactation Limited Data

There's insufficient data on the safety of using Mequitazine if user is breastfeeding or its potential adverse effect on the feeding baby. Please consult your doctor before using it.
