How Moclobemide Works

Moclobemide is an antidepressant. It works by inhibiting isoenzyme monoamine oxidase type A hence increases serotonin, epinephrine, and norepinephrine of which were usually found low in depression and anxiety.

Side Effects of Moclobemide

Drowsiness, Nausea, Vomiting, Headache, Dizziness, Sleep disturbance, Abdominal pain, Constipation/ Diarrhea

Warnings

Kidney Safe If Prescribed

Moclobemide can be used in patients with severe kidney disease.

Alcohol Not Advisable

Consumption of alcohol with Moclobemide is not advisable as the mixture might lead to excessive sedation, sudden decrease in blood pressure, and worsening symptoms which are dangerous.

Pregnancy Limited Data

Although no data are available on the use of Moclobemide in pregnancy, it is highly recommended that the usage of the medication is handled with care and efficient monitoring.

Driving Not advisable

(Do not drive unless you are feeling well.) Moclobemide may cause side effects such as dizziness, headaches, nausea or tiredness, all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive.

Liver Limited Data

Moclobemide should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Moclobemide may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation Limited Data

Although no data are available on the use of Moclobemide in breastfeeding mothers, it is highly recommended that the usage of the medication is handled with care and efficient monitoring.
