Uses of Nicotinamide

Nicotinamide is commonly used in the treatment of Acne.

How Nicotinamide Works

Nicotinamide is a vitamin B3- derivative which is involved in a few metabolic pathways and it also has anti-inflammatory property.

Dry skin, Skin irritation, Skin redness, Burning sensation, Abnormal liver function

Warnings

Kidney Safe If Prescribed

Nicotinamide is safe to be used in patients with kidney impairment.

Alcohol Not Advisable

Alcohol may further damage the liver if consumed together with Nicotinamide orally. However, it is safe to consume alcohol if Nicotinamide is used topically. Please consult your doctor.

Pregnancy Limited Data

There are limited data on the use of Nicotinamide during pregnancy in animal studies and human studies. Thus, caution use has to be practised during pregnancy. Please consult your doctor.

Driving Generally Safe

Nicotinamide usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Liver Safe If Prescribed

Dose adjustment is needed in patients with liver impairment when used orally. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation Safe If Prescribed

Nicotinamide is safe to be used as topical or oral agent during breastfeeding.
