Uses of Olaparib
Olaparib is commonly used to treat Ovarian Cancer, fallopian tube cancer, primary peritoneal cancer and breast cancer.
How Olaparib Works
Olaparib inhibits poly ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP) enzymes, which are essential in the repair, regulation and formation of DNA in cancer cells. Inhibition causes formation of double stranded DNA breaks which cannot be repaired thereby leading to cell apoptosis in tumour cells.
Side Effects of Olaparib
Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Dyspepsia, Fatigue, Headache, Distorted sense of taste, Decreased appetite, Dizziness, Upper abdominal pain, Cough, Difficulty breathing, Low red blood cell count, Low white cell blood cell count, Low platelet count
Warnings
Kidney Use With Care
Olaparib should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Olaparib may be needed. Please consult your doctor before using it. Use of Olaparib is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
Alcohol Safe
Consuming alcohol in moderation doesn't cause the disturbance to pharmacokinetics of Olaparib. However, please consult your doctor before using it.
Pregnancy Not Safe
Olaparib may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Human studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor before using it.
Driving Not advisable
Olaparib may cause side effects of dizziness, headaches and fatigue, all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Liver Use With Care

Lactation Not Advisable
