Paritaprevir is commonly used to treat Chronic Hepatitis C Virus (Hcv) Infection

How Paritaprevir Works

Paritaprevir inhibits viral lifecycle by inhibiting HCV NS3/4A protease which is responsible for proteolytic cleavage of the HCV encoded polyprotein.

Side Effects of Paritaprevir

Anemia, Insomnia, Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Pruritus, Fatigue.

Warnings

Kidney Safe If Prescribed

Paritaprevir is safe to be used in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Paritaprevir is not needed. However, please consult your doctor before using it.

Alcohol Limited Data

Certain food and medications will have interactions with concurrent use of Paritaprevir but there is no specific data stating so. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Pregnancy Limited Data

Paritaprevir may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. There are limited human and animal studies to show its potential risk on the fetus. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Driving Generally Safe

Paritaprevir may cause side effects of tiredness, all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Liver Limited Data

Paritaprevir should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Paritaprevir may be needed for mild liver disease. Please consult your doctor before using it. Paritaprevir is not recommended for use in moderate to severe liver disease.

Lactation Limited Data

There's excretion of Paritaprevir into the breastmilk of mammals but there is limited human data and its effect to a breastfed baby is still largely unknown. The benefits from use in pregnant women may outweigh the risk. Please consult your doctor before using it.
