Uses of Piribedil

Piribedil is commonly used in the treatment of Parkinson's and circulatory disorders.

How Piribedil Works

Piribedil is an antiparkinsonian drug and also peripheral vasodilator. It works by stimulating the cerebral and peripheral dopamine release, hence increasing the dopamine in Parkinson’s which were usually found low.

Side Effects of Piribedil

Nausea/ vomiting, Dizziness, Confusion, Drowsiness, Leg cramps

Warnings

Kidney Use With Care

Piribedil can be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Although, dose adjustment may be needed. Therefore, please consult a doctor.

Alcohol Not Advisable

Taking Piribedil with alcohol is not advisable as it may increase the sedative effect of the medication.

Pregnancy Limited Data

Although there is no data available on the effect of Piribedil on pregnant women, Piribedil is contraindicated in pregnant women..

Driving Not advisable

Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Because Piribedil can cause dizziness, confusion and drowsiness, it may affect your ability to concentrate and drive.

Liver Limited Data

Although Piribedil can be used in patients with liver problems, care must be taken as the medication is metabolised in the liver. Therefore, please consult a doctor.

Lactation Limited Data

It is not known about Piribedil effect and excretion in human milk, therefore this medication must be used with utmost precaution in breastfeeding mothers.
