Sacubitril + Valsartan

Uses of Sacubitril + Valsartan

Sacubitril and Valsartan, an ARB (angiotensin receptor blocker) and neprilysin inhibitor combination, is used to treat heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).

How Sacubitril + Valsartan Works

Sacubitril inhibits neprilysin, leading to increased levels of natriuretic peptides, which promote vasodilation and natriuresis. Valsartan blocks angiotensin II receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion. Together, they reduce strain on the heart and improve cardiac function.

Side Effects of Sacubitril + Valsartan

Common side effects include hypotension, hyperkalemia, and renal impairment. Less common but serious side effects can include angioedema and severe hypotension.
