Uses of Sertaconazole
Sertaconazole is commonly used in the treatment of Fungal Infections, Severe Fungal Infections and Dandruff.
How Sertaconazole Works
Sertaconazole inhibits the 14-a demethylase which reduces the production of ergosterol. Ergosterol is an essential component for fungal cell membrane, the reduce in production will eventually cause the fungal cell membrane to be more permeable leading to leakage of cellular contents. This can help to eliminate the fungus.

Warnings
Kidney Safe If Prescribed
Sertaconazole is safe for patients with kidney disease. It is a topical drug and there is only minimal topical absorption of the drug.
Alcohol Safe
It is safe to consume alcohol with Sertaconazole because it is a topical drug. However, if you find any adverse reactions of taking it with alcohol please go consult your doctor.
Pregnancy Not Safe
Sertaconazole may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown side effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The usage is allowed if the benefits outweigh the risks. Please consult your doctor.
Driving Generally Safe
Sertraconazole usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Liver Limited Data
Sertaconazole is safe for patients with liver disease. It is a topical drug and there is only minimal topical absorption of Sertaconazole.
Lactation Limited Data
No academic reports explaining the use of Sertaconazole during lactation are available. It is probably compatible to use by breastfeeding mothers as Sertaconazole does not produce detectable plasma concentrations after multiple applications to diseased skin. Prescribe with caution and instruct nursing mothers not to apply on the breast.
