Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is an antiviral which is able to inhibit the nucleotide reverse transcriptase, an essential enzyme for viral production. Thus, this can help the replication of the virus in infected patients.

Gut disturbances, Dizziness, Headache, Nausea and vomiting Diarrhea, Abdominal discomfort, Liver enzyme dysfunction, Skin rash, Hypophosphataemia, Lactic acidosis

Kidney Use With Care

Caution use and dose adjustment may be needed in patients with kidney impairment.

Alcohol Not Advisable

There is no known interaction between alcohol and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate disoproxil fumarate when used concomitantly. However, alcohol consumption can increase the risk of liver damage, further accentuate the side effect of Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate disoproxil fumarate on the liver. Thus, alcohol is not advisable to be used concomitantly with Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate disoproxil fumarate.

Pregnancy Maybe Safe

Human studies and animal studies do not show reproductive toxicities. Thus, Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate disoproxil fumarate can be used during pregnancy if indicated. Please consult your doctor.

Driving Generally Safe

Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate disoproxil fumarate usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Liver Use With Care

Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate disoproxil fumarate is safe to be used in patients with liver impairment.

Lactation Not Advisable

Human studies have shown the excretion of Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate disoproxil fumarate in breastmilk but there are limited data on the effects of Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate disoproxil fumarate in breastfed babies. Thus, Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate disoproxil fumarate is not advisable to be used during breastfeeding. In fact, women with chronic HBV infection and HIV infection is not advisable to breastfeed their babies.
