Uses of Triconazole

Triconazole is commonly used to treat Dermatoses and Fungal Infections of Skin.

How Triconazole Works

Triconazole is a topical cream of a combination of econazole and triamcinolone. Econazole is antifungal and antiparasitic, works by modifying the cell membrane permeability of cell wall membranes in fungi. It interferes with RNA and protein synthesis and lipid metabolism, hence, kills the organism presents in people with dandruff and fungal infection. Triamcinolone is a corticosteroid act by inhibiting the migration of leukocytes. This will then reduces the permeability of the capillary thus reduces inflammation. Concomitant use of these two components helps in relieving dermatoses and tinea infection.

Skin itching, Skin redness, Skin dryness, Abnormal hair growth, Skin hypopigmentation

Warnings

Kidney Safe If Prescribed

Triconazole is safe to use in patients with kidney impairment.

Alcohol Safe

There is no known interaction between alcohol and Triconazole when used concomitantly.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicities but there are limited data on human studies. Thus, Triconazole is not advisable to be used during pregnancy unless necessary. Please consult your doctor.

Driving Generally Safe

Triconazole usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Liver Safe If Prescribed

Triconazole is safe to use in patients with liver impairment.

Lactation Safe If Prescribed

Triconazole is probably safe to use during lactation. Triconazole is not advisable to be applied on the breast are during breastfeeding.
