Uses of Adefovir

Adapalene is commonly used to treat Acne.

How Adefovir Works

Adapalene is a retinoid-like compound which has anti-inflammatory action. Adapalene works by normalising the differentiation of follicular epithelial cells resulting in decreased acne. It binds to the specific retinoic acid nuclear formation.

Side Effects of Adefovir

Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomitting, Abdominal pain, Headache, Itchiness, Skin rash

Warnings

Kidney High Risk

Adefovir can cause renal impairment. Dose adjustment is needed for people with kidney disease and reduce creatinine clearance.

Alcohol Safe

Adefovir is safe to be consumed with alcohol as no evidence indicate otherwise.

Pregnancy Not Safe

The animal studies showed toxicity towards the fetus. However, human data is limited and it may be used with caution if the benefits outweigh the risk.

Driving Generally Safe

There is no data studying the effects of Adefovir with driving but with the side effects profile, Adefovir may be used before driving.

Liver Use With Care

It is advisable to put patient on close monitoring in those with severe or cirrhotic liver disease. Treatment cessation is not needed as long as liver function is monitored.

Lactation Limited Data

There is no human data to exclude the potential toxicity or presence of Adefovir in human breastmilk. Animal studies suggest there is toxicity risk and hence it is not advisable to breastfeed during the treatment with Adefovir.
