Uses of Agomelatine

Aesculin+cinchocaine+framycetin+hydrocortisone used for hemorrhoids/piles. It helps relieve pain, irritation, discharge and itchiness.

How Agomelatine Works

Agomelatine is a psychoanaleptics. It is an antidepressant that works by binding to melatonergic agonists to re-synchronize disrupted circadian rhythms, which occur in depressed individuals. It also works as an antagonist to increase the release of noradrenaline and dopamine which is known to be low in people with depression.

Kidney Use With Care

Agomelatine use in patients with renal impairment has shown no dose adjustment needed. However, further data on this is very limited. Therefore, it is advised to be cautious when prescribing this drug.

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Agomelatine. Taking Agomelatine with alcohol may have affect the liver function.

Pregnancy Not Safe

There are limited data available on the effect of Agomelatine on human pregnancy. Therefore, it is considered safe to avoid the use of this medication altogether during pregnancy.

Driving Generally Safe

Agomelatine is for external application. Therefore, it does not interfere with the ability to drive.

Liver High Risk

Agomelatine is contraindicated in patients with liver impairment.

Lactation Limited Data

Available data indicate the excretion of Agomelatine in the mother's milk. However, data available does not explain the risk implicated by the presence of Agomelatine in milk upon the infant consuming it.
