Agomelatine is commonly used to treat Depression.
How Albendazole Works
Albendazole is an antihelminthic which can inhibit the formation of microtubule of the parasite. As a result, this will cause reduced glucose uptake and absorptive function as well as exhausting glycogen storage in the parasites, subsequently leading to parasite death.
Side Effects of Albendazole
Blurred vision, Abdominal pain, Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Fever, Headache, Dizziness, Convulsion, Rash, Sleepiness
Warnings
Kidney Use With Care
There is no study on the pharmacokinetics of Albendazole in patients with renal problems, however, caution must be taken since it may cause acute renal failure.
Alcohol Not Advisable
There are no academic reports on the interaction between Albendazole and alcohol. However, since alcohol consumption increases the risk for liver problems and this medication may also cause liver problems, it is advisable to restrict taking alcoholic drinks.
Pregnancy Not Safe
There are adverse effects on the fetus as shown in animal studies, however, there are no sufficient and well-controlled data from human studies. In pregnancy, Albendazole should only be used if the benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus. It is best to avoid using this medication during pregnancy.
Driving Generally Safe
Albendazole has little to no effect on a patient's ability to drive. However, side effects like dizziness and somnolence need to be considered.
Liver Use With Care
It is good to take caution in patients with liver disease as Albendazole may cause elevation of hepatic enzyme, hepatitis, and acute liver failure. There is also an increased risk of bone marrow suppression in such patients.
Lactation Limited Data
Animal studies have shown that it is excreted in animal milk. It is also excreted in human milk. It is important to take caution before using this medication during lactation.
