Uses of Clobetasone Butyrate
Clobetasone butyrate is commonly used to treat Severe Allergic Reactions such as atopic dermatitis, irritant or allegic dermatitis, nappy rash, photodermatitis and contact dermatitis. It is also used to treat Skin Disorders such as prurigo nodularis and insect bite reactions.
How Clobetasone Butyrate Works
Clobetasone Butyrate is a synthetic glucocorticoid. It suppresses inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandin, leukotrienes and others by inducing phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins (lipocortins) and sequentially inhibits the release of arachidonic acid.

Itchy skin, Burning sensation of the skin, Skin redness, Skin dryness and irritation , Papular rashes and folliculitis, Acne , Hypopigmentation, Secondary infection, Skin atrophy, Striae
Warnings
Kidney Safe If Prescribed
Dose adjustment is required in case of systemic absorption when application is over a large surface area for a prolonged period as there is a higher risk of systemic toxicity.
Alcohol Safe
It is safe to consume alcohol with Clobetasone Butyrate. There is no interaction between alcohol and the medication.
Pregnancy Not Safe
Clobetasone Butyrate may be unsafe to use during pregnancy as animal studies have shown adverse effects on foetal development, however, no data on human studies. Usage is permissible if benefits to the mother outweigh the risk to the fetus.
Driving Generally Safe
Clobetasone Butyrate has no ability to influence the general attention during driving.
Liver Limited Data
Dose adjustment of Clobetasone Butyrate is required in case of systemic absorption when application is over a large surface area for a prolonged period as there is a higher risk of systemic toxicity.
Lactation Limited Data
Clobetasone Butyrate is not safe to use during lactation as there is no information regarding the presence of the medication in human milk. Nevertheless, do not apply to the breasts topically to avoid ingestion by the infant.
