How Cyanocobalamin Works

Cyanocobalamin is a coenzyme for many metabolic functions which include red blood cell production, fat and carbohydrate metabolism as well as protein synthesis.

Headache, Infection

Warnings

Kidney Safe If Prescribed

There is no dosage reduction indicated in patients with renal impairment. However, higher dosage requirement may be needed for patients with renal impairment.

Alcohol Not Advisable

Alcohol may decrease or increase the serum concentration of Cyanocobalamin

Pregnancy Not Safe

Cyanocobalamin should not be used in pregnancy to treat megaloblastic anaemia because it is due to folate deficiency and not Cyanocobalamin deficiency unless indicated.

Driving Generally Safe

It is not known whether Cyanocobalamin will affect the ability to drive or not. It can be used before driving based on its safety profile.

Liver Safe If Prescribed

There is no dosage reduction indicated in patients with hepatic impairment. However, higher dosage requirement may be needed for patients with hepatic impairment.

Lactation Safe If Prescribed

Cyanocobalamin is found in human breastmilk and Cyanocobalamin is essential in infant's growth as well.
