Desogestrel+ethinylestradiol is a combination pill used to prevent pregnancy.

How Desogestrel + Ethinylestradiol Works

It stops the release of eggs from the ovaries which prevents pregnancy.

Headache, Abdominal Pain, Breast Pain, Weight Gain,Hives, Migraine, Fluid Retention

Warnings

Kidney Use With Care

Desogestrel + Ethinylestradiol should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease as it can cause fluid retention and its effect of usage on renal impairment patients has not been studied enough. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Alcohol Safe

There is no known interaction between Desogestrel + Ethinylestradiol with alcohol.

Pregnancy Limited Data

Desogestrel + Ethinylestradiol is not indicated for usage during pregnancy. If pregnancy occurs during use of Desogestrel + Ethinylestradiol, the preparation should be withdrawn immediately. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Driving Generally Safe

Desogestrel + Ethinylestradiol should not affect alertness or driving ability.

Liver Use With Care

Desogestrel + Ethinylestradiol should be used with caution in patients with liver disease as in cause disturbances in liver enzymes. Dose adjustment of Desogestrel + Ethinylestradiol may be needed. It is contraindicated in past history in liver disease. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Lactation Not Advisable

Desogestrel + Ethinylestradiol reduces production of breast milk. Hence, other contraceptive method aside from Desogestrel + Ethinylestradiol should be considered until the nursing mother has completely weaned her child. Excretion of Desogestrel + Ethinylestradiol into breast milk is in minimal amounts and may possibly affect the child.
