Uses of Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine

Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine is used for unproductive/dry cough. It is also used to relieve nasal congestion and sneezing.

How Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine Works

Dextromethorphan is an antitussive where it works by supressing the cough. Phenylephrine is a decongestant which helps reduce swelling of the vessels and provide a clear airway. Prometazine works as an antihistamine which prevent allergic reactions.

Side Effects of Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine

Drowsiness, Dry Mouth, Rash, Constipation

Warnings

Kidney Use With Care

Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine should be used with caution in patients with kidney impairment. Dose adjustment of Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine. Taking Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine with alcohol may worsen the side effects such as headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and palpitations.

Pregnancy Not Safe

It is not recommended to use Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before use.

Driving Not advisable

Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine may cause side effects such as drowsiness which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.

Liver Use With Care

Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine should be used with caution in patients with liver disorder. Dose adjustment of Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation Not Advisable

Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine is shown to be excreted in breast milk. It is not advisable for women to breastfeed while consuming Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine + Promethazine because of its potential adverse drug effects on infants.
