How Dioctahedral Smectite Works

Dioctahedral smectite has a powerful coating property on the gastrointestinal mucosa. It protects the gastrointestinal mucosa by interacting with the glycoprotein of mucus, thus increasing the resistance of the mucosal gel in response to aggressive agents.

Kidney Limited Data

There is no information regarding the safety of Dioctahedral Smectite in patients with kidney disease.

Alcohol Safe

It is safe to consume alcohol with Dioctahedral Smectite as there is no known drug interactions.

Pregnancy Limited Data

Dioctahedral Smectite may be unsafe to use during pregnancy as this is a clay-based medication which may cause the presence of lead passing through blood. Nevertheless, this risk cannot be excluded in pregnant women.

Driving Not advisable

Dioctahedral Smectite may cause side effects such as dizziness and lowers the blood pressure, all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive.

Liver Use With Care

There is no information regarding dose adjustment and safety of Dioctahedral Smectite in patients with liver disease.

Lactation Not Advisable

Dioctahedral Smectite is not to use during lactation as the risks of lead passing through blood cannot be excluded in breastfed infants.
