Dydrogesterone is commonly used to treat Abnormal Uterine Bleeding, Amenorrhea, Endometriosis, Female Infertility, Heavy Menstrual Bleeding, Hormone Replacement Therapy, Infertility, Miscarriage, Pain During Menstruation and Premenstural Syndrome (PMS)
How Dydrogesterone Works
Dydrogesterone is a progestogen. As opposed to oestrogens which thickens the endometrial lining, Dydrogesterone protects against endometrial hyperplasia. However, it lacks in oestrogenic, anabolic, androgenic, thermogenic and corticoid characteristics.
Side Effects of Dydrogesterone
Headache, Menstrual pattern is affected, Back pain, Breast pain, Bleeding and spotting, Weight increased, Rash, Nausea, Vomiting, Mood lability
Warnings
Kidney Use With Care
Dydrogesterone should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease as it may cause side effects of fluid retention. Close monitoring of renal function is indicated in users with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Dydrogesterone may be needed. Please consult your doctor before using it.
Alcohol Safe
There is no known interaction between Dydrogesterone with alcohol. However, please consult your doctor before using it.
Pregnancy Limited Data
Dydrogesterone is not recommended to use during pregnancy. Stop taking medication if users suspect of pregnancy. Both animal studies and human studies have limited data. Please consult your doctor before using it.
Driving Generally Safe
Dydrogesterone cause minimal to no side effects which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive.
Liver Limited Data
Dydrogesterone is mainly metabolized by the liver. Hence, it is not recommended as contraceptive for patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor before using it.
Lactation Limited Data
Dydrogesterone is not recommended for use in lactation as there is inadequate research data on its excretion into breast milk and its effect on feeding infants.
