Uses of Ezetimibe
Ezetimibe is commonly used to treat patients with high cholesterol levels.
How Ezetimibe Works
Ezetimibe treats patients with high cholesterol levels by inhibiting the absorption of cholesterol via the sterol transporter, NPC1L1. As a result, it decreased levels of cholesterol in the liver, reduced the hepatic cholesterol storage and increased clearance of cholesterol from the blood.

Warnings
Kidney Use With Care
Ezetimibe should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Ezetimibe may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Alcohol Safe
It is safe to consume Ezetimibe with alcohol.
Pregnancy Not Safe
Ezetimibe may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown side effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable even with the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Driving Generally Safe
Ezetimibe usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Liver Limited Data
Ezetimibe is not recommended in patients with moderate and severe liver disease; Child Pugh Score > 7. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Limited Data
No academic reports explaining the use of Ezetimibe for breastfeeding mothers have been located. However, if Ezetimibe is taken by breastfeeding mothers, the nursing infant should be closely monitored for any adverse reactions.
