Uses of Glibenclamide + Metformin

Glibenclamide + Metformin is taken orally for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adult patients.

How Glibenclamide + Metformin Works

Glibenclamide + Metformin works by regulating blood sugar to a normal level. It increase glucose utilization in the body.

Side Effects of Glibenclamide + Metformin

Nausea, Vomitting, Abdominal Pain, Metal Taste In The Mouth, Lactic Acidosis

Warnings

Kidney High Risk

Dose adjustment may be needed in patients with moderate kidney impairment. It is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney impairment. Please consult your doctor.

Alcohol Not Advisable

Alcohol may affect blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes. Glibenclamide + Metformin might also increase the risk of diabetes ketoacidosis but this mostly applies to patients who abuse alcohol. Generally, it is not advisable to have alcohol with Glibenclamide + Metformin.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicities and prolonged severe hypoglycaemia has been reported in newborns to mother receiving Glibenclamide + Metformin at time of delivery. Glibenclamide + Metformin is not recommended during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using this Glibenclamide + Metformin.

Driving Generally Safe

Glibenclamide + Metformin should not affect alertness or driving ability.

Liver Use With Care

Dose adjustment may be needed in patients with moderate liver impairment. It is contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation Not Advisable

There are no data on the effect of Glibenclamide + Metformin upon breastfed babies. Thus, Glibenclamide + Metformin is contraindicated during breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor.
