Glimepiride + Metformin is used in treating Type 2 diabetes mellitus especially for patients that could not achieve sufficient control of blood sugar level with glimepiride or metformin alone.
How Glimepiride + Metformin Works
Glimepiride acts on the pancreas which helps produce more insulin. Metformin helps reduce glucose production by the liver, which also helps body to make better use of insulin and delay the glucose absorption in intestines.
Side Effects of Glimepiride + Metformin
Nausea, Vomitting, Abdominal Pain, Metallic Taste In The Mouth.
Warnings
Kidney High Risk
Dose adjustment may be needed in patients with moderate kidney impairment. It is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney impairment. Please consult your doctor.
Alcohol Not Advisable
Alcohol may affect blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes. Glimepiride + Metformin might also increase the risk of diabetes ketoacidosis but this mostly applies to patients who abuse alcohol. Generally, it is not advisable to have alcohol with Glimepiride + Metformin.
Pregnancy Not Safe
Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicities and prolonged severe hypoglycaemia has been reported in newborns to mother receiving Glimepiride + Metformin at time of delivery. Glimepiride + Metformin is not recommended during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using this Glimepiride + Metformin.
Driving Generally Safe
Glimepiride + Metformin should not affect alertness or driving ability.
Liver Use With Care

Lactation Not Advisable
