Uses of Guaifenesin + Salbutamol
Guaifenesin + Salbutamol helps reduce wheezing/chest tightness and produce thinner mucus to ease breathing.
How Guaifenesin + Salbutamol Works
Bronchodilator act on the receptors on the bronchial smooth muscle which dilates the airway to ease breathing. Guaifenesin works by reducing the mucus viscosity which help with coughing up easily.
Side Effects of Guaifenesin + Salbutamol
Irregular Heartbeat, Trembling, Drowsiness.
Warnings
Kidney Use With Care
Guaifenesin + Salbutamol should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease as it may cause hypokalaemia. Dose adjustment of Guaifenesin + Salbutamol may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Alcohol Not Advisable
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Guaifenesin + Salbutamol. Taking Guaifenesin + Salbutamol with alcohol may worsen the side effects such as headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and palpitations.
Pregnancy Not Safe
Guaifenesin + Salbutamol may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown adverse reactions on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable even with the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Driving Generally Safe
Guaifenesin + Salbutamol should not affect alertness or driving ability.
Liver Limited Data
Guaifenesin + Salbutamol should be safe to use in patients with liver disease. It is rare for most of the antiasthmatic agents to cause hepatotoxicity. No dose adjustment of Guaifenesin + Salbutamol may be needed.
Lactation Limited Data
Guaifenesin + Salbutamol is excreted in breast milk but it is not known to show any harmful effect on breastfed babies. However, its usage should be restricted unless the benefits outweigh the risks.
