Uses of Itopride

Itopride is commonly used to treat Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Acid Reflux, Heartburn, Indigestion, Nausea, Vomiting, Acidity, Constipation, Functional Dyspepsia, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Acid Reflux, Heartburn, Indigestion, Nausea, Vomiting and Decreased Gastrointestinal Motility.

How Itopride Works

Itopride is an antiflatulent. Itopride enhances gastrointestinal motility by hindering dopamine receptors and acetylcholinesterase. In this manner, it causes acetylcholine concentration to rise.

Headache, Dizziness, Nausea, Diarrhea, Abdominal pain, Constipation, Rash, Itchiness

Kidney Use With Care

Caution is needed when Itopride is being used in patients with kidney ailments. Physician recommendation is needed for any dose adjustments.

Alcohol Safe

Eventhough, Itopride is stated to be safe, the unwanted effects of this medication may potentiate with alcohol consumption. Thus, intake of alcohol should be avoided when taking this medication.

Pregnancy Limited Data

There is no verified information regarding Itopride safety in pregnancy. However, Itopride can be utilized in pregnant ladies in that pregnancy cannot be exempted only if therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks.

Driving Not advisable

Do not drive except if you are feeling well after taking Itopride as it may cause symptoms, for example, dizziness and headaches which could influence the potential to focus and drive.

Liver Limited Data

Caution is needed when Itopride is being used in patients with liver ailments. Physician recommendation is needed for any dose adjustments.

Lactation Limited Data

Itopride is viewed as a safe medication to be used during breastfeeding. No human information proposes a risk of Itopride to the infant.
