How Mycophenolate Mofetil Works

Mycophenolate Mofetil is an immunosuppressant. It inhibits an enzyme, inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, and therefore inhibits the de novo pathway of guanosine nucleotide synthesis.

Side Effects of Mycophenolate Mofetil

Bacterial and fungal infections, Skin cancer, Anaemia, Bruising, Disoriented and confused, Difficulty to sleep (Insomnia), Dizziness, Headache, High or Low blood pressure, Tremor

Warnings

Kidney Use With Care

In patients with severe chronic renal impairment, Mycophenolate Mofetil should be used with caution as certain dose should be avoided and titrated. Please consult your doctor.

Alcohol Safe

It is safe to consume alcohol with Mycophenolate Mofetil as there is no known drug interaction.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Mycophenolate Mofetil may be unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is evidence of human foetal risk. It is contraindicated unless there is no alternative treatment to prevent rejection.

Driving Not advisable

Mycophenolate Mofetil has moderate influence on the ability to drive as it may cause side effects such as dizziness, headache, nausea or tiredness.

Liver Use With Care

Dose adjustment of Mycophenolate Mofetil is not necessary in patients with liver disease.

Lactation Not Advisable

There is no information regarding the presence of Mycophenolate Mofetil in human breast milk. Therefore, Mycophenolate Mofetil is contraindicated to use during lactation due to possible adverse effects.
