How Norelgestromin Works

Norelgestromin is an oral contraceptive agent. It acts by suppressing the level of gonadotrophin via the progestational actions of norelgestromin (NGMN). Thus, inhibits ovulation.

Side Effects of Norelgestromin

Vaginal candidiasis, Headache, Migraine , Dizziness, Nausea and vomiting, Abdominal pain, Diarrhea, Abdominal distension, Acne or pruritus, Breast tenderness

Warnings

Kidney Limited Data

There is no information regarding the safety of Norelgestromin in patient with kidney disease. No dose titration of Norelgestromin is required.

Alcohol Safe

It is safe to consume alcohol with Norelgestromin as there is no known drug interaction.

Pregnancy Limited Data

Norelgestromin is not indicated during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown undesirable effects on the fetus, however, based on general experience of Norelgestromin during pregnancy did not provide any evidence of adverse effect to the fetus.

Driving Generally Safe

Norelgestromin does not cause side effect that will interrupt with ability to drive.

Liver Use With Care

Norelgestromin is contraindicated in patients with liver disease.

Lactation Not Advisable

Norelgestromin in combined oral contraceptive pill may reduce the quantity of human breast milk and constituent of the milk. Therefore, it is not recommended to use it during lactation.
