How Norgestrel Works
Norgestrel is an oral contraceptive agent. It is used in combination with Ethinylestradiol. They inhibit ovulation, and create unfavourable condition for conception by affecting other changes such as changes in the cervical mucus and the endometrium.
Side Effects of Norgestrel
GI disturbances, Breakthrough bleeding, High cholesterol level, High blood pressure (Hypertension), Headache, Oedema, Changes mood , Melasma
Warnings
Kidney Use With Care
Norgestrel should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Renal function and blood pressure should be monitored frequently.
Alcohol Safe
It is safe to consume alcohol with Norgestrel as there is no known drug interaction.
Pregnancy Not Safe - High Risk
Norgestrel is contraindicated in pregnancy.
Driving Generally Safe
Norgestrel does not cause side effects that could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.
Liver Use With Care
Norgestrel is contraindicated in patients with liver disease.
Lactation Not Advisable
Norgestrel in combined oral contraceptive pill is not recommended to be used during lactation as it decreases the quantity and constituent of human breast milk.
