How Oteracil Works

Oteracil is used as part of combination treatment in stomach malignancy. Oteracil blocks the phosphorylation of 5-FU to 5-fluorouridine-5'-monophosphate and possibly reduces the risk of 5-FU induced gastrointestinal complications, including stomach cancer.

Side Effects of Oteracil

Low white blood cell, red blood cell and platelet count, Loss of appetite, Peripheral neuropathy, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Nausea, Constipation, Lethargy

Warnings

Kidney Use With Care

Oteracil should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Oteracil may be needed. Please consult your doctor before using it. Use of Oteracil is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.

Alcohol Limited Data

There is no known data on Oteracil interactions between Oteracil and alcohol. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Pregnancy Limited Data

Oteracil may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. Oteracil is not recommended for use if suspected pregnant. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Driving Not advisable

Oteracil may cause side effects which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive. Please avoid driving unless feeling well.

Liver Use With Care

Oteracil can be used in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Oteracil is not needed. However, please consult your doctor before using it.

Lactation Not Advisable

Oteracil is excreted into mammal's breast milk. However, its excretion into human breast milk and the adverse effect on the feeding baby is unknown. Please consult your doctor before using it.
