Pantothenic Acid is commonly used as a treatment for Pantothenic Acid deficiency.

How Pantothenic Acid Works

Pantothenic Acid is a substance of vitamin B and a component of vitamin A. It may help in the metabolism of fat, protein, and carbohydrate.

Side Effects of Pantothenic Acid

Tiredness, Muscle and joint pain, New onset of diabetes mellitus, Headache, Dizziness, Sore throat, Nausea, Abdominal pain, Urinary tract infection, Hypersensitivity reaction, Flu like illness

Warnings

Kidney Use With Care

Pantothenic Acid should be used with cautiously. However, patients with chronic kidney disease should be supplemented with 5mg of Pantothenic Acid per day.

Alcohol Safe

There is no interactions or risk identified when consuming alcohol while on Pantothenic Acid.

Pregnancy Safe If Prescribed

Pantothenic Acid has been assigned as FDA category A when the dose is not above the recommended dosage and the category could be dropped to C if more dosage were taken.

Driving Not advisable

As Pantothenic Acid has the side effects like tiredness, dizziness, and headache, it is not advisable to drive while patient is on this medication.

Liver Limited Data

Even when given in high doses, Pantothenic Acid supplementation has not been linked with adverse effects like liver injury or ALT elevation. So, patients with liver disease should not worry when taking Pantothenic Acid.

Lactation Limited Data

There is no data regarding whether the content of Pantothenic Acid could be excreted into the breast milk and it is unknown whether it could give any effects to the infant when the milk is consumed.
