Racecadotril is commonly used to treat Diarrhea, Dysentery

How Racecadotril Works

Racecadotril inhibits the membrane-bound enkephalinase which will increase the level of the endogenous opioids, in turn increasing the chloride absorption that will relieve acute diarrhoea.

Headache, Tonsillitis, Skin rash, Oedema, Allergic reactions

Kidney Use With Care

Caution use has to be practised in patients with kidney impairment. Please consult your doctor.

Alcohol Safe

There is no known interaction between alcohol and Racecadotril when used concomitantly.

Pregnancy Limited Data

Animal studies have not shown any reproductive toxicities and there are limited data on the use of Racecadotril in pregnant women. Thus, it is not advisable to be used during pregnancy. Please consult your doctor.

Driving Generally Safe

Racecadotril usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Liver Limited Data

Caution use has to be practised in patients with liver impairment. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation Limited Data

There are limited data on the excretion of Racecadotril in human milk. Thus, it is not advisable to be used during breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor.
