Tetanus Toxoid
Uses of Tetanus Toxoid
Tetanus Toxoid is a vaccine that is commonly used as Prevention Of Tetanus and to treat Tetanus.
How Tetanus Toxoid Works
Tetanus toxoid is a vaccine prepared from an inactivated toxin produced by virulent tetanus bacilli (product of Clostridium tetani). It acts as antigen and produces active immunity against tetanus.
Side Effects of Tetanus Toxoid
Nausea, Fever, Malaise, Irritability, Bruising, Swelling, Painful Joints, Syncope, Rashed, Dizziness
Warnings
Kidney Safe If Prescribed
Tetanus infections can be prevented by using vaccines in End-Staged Renal Patient patients. However, monitoring of antibody levels should be done due to impaired seroconversion rates.
Alcohol Safe
Consumption of alcohol is found to be safe at least an hour after vaccination. However, consult your doctor for further clarification
Pregnancy Safe If Prescribed
No animal studies have been conducted with Tetanus Toxoid. Also, the risk to the fetus from the use of Tetanus Toxoid is unknown. However, it is recommended that protection against neonatal tetanus be given with appropriate Tetanus Toxoid-containing preparation.
Driving Generally Safe
Tetanus Toxoid usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Liver Safe If Prescribed
Tetanus Toxoid infections can be prevented by using vaccines in End-Staged Renal Patient patients. However, monitoring of antibody levels should be done due to impaired seroconversion rates.
Lactation Safe If Prescribed
Study shows that Tetanus Toxoid does not affect breastfeeding mothers and their infants. The immune response is not affected and breastfeeding is not a contraindication for vaccination.
