How Valacyclovir Works
Valacyclovir is an antiviral drug. It is widely used for the treatment of herpes virus infection. It is converted to acyclovir by intestinal and hepatic metabolism. It inhibits DNA synthesis and viral replication by acting as the competitors to deoxyguanosine triphosphate for viral DNA polymerase and being consolidated into viral DNA.

Valacyclovir with a daily dose of 4000mg and above should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. The active substance of Valacyclovir is metabolized in the liver.
